Hakpo Coast (학포해안 (울릉도, 독도 국가지질공원))

Hakpo Coast (학포해안 (울릉도, 독도 국가지질공원)) - Homepage : ulleung.go.kr - Tel : Hakpo is known for its beautiful coast as well as the remains that record the frontier history of Ulleungdo Island. There are agglomerate, tuff, and trachyte layers along the Hakpo Coast. The relatively hard trachyte layer that cannot be eroded by waves and remains has formed a cape (a large piece of land sticking out into the sea), while the agglomerate and tuff layers, which are subject to weathering and erosion, have formed a bay. Additionally, sea cliffs are found along the coast. As the lower part of the vertical columnar joints erodes, the upper part of the cliff collapses due to gravity, creating a steep cliff as the process is repeated. Visitors can also enjoy the atmosphere of Hakpo at the nearby Hakpo Campground.  - Address : 166-29 Hakpo-gil, Seo-myeon, Ulleung-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do ※ Introduction Information - Ccapacity : - Experienceable age : - Inquiries and Guides +82-54-791-2191 - Open da...

Tomb of Queen Seondeok (경주 선덕여왕릉) - Homepage : www.gyeongju.go.kr/tour - Tel : +82-54-779-6100 The Tomb of Queen Seondeok is a round tumulus with a circumference of 73 meters. Aside from the fact that it is circled by a protective two-layer rock, the tomb has no other unique features. As the oldest daughter of King Jinpyeong, Queen Seondeok became the first queen of the Silla Kingdom. During the 16th year of her reign, Bunhwangsa Temple and Cheomseongdae Observatory were built. She also ordered the construction of the famous nine-story wooden pagoda of Hwangyongsa Temple, a significant achievement of Buddhist architecture. While many of her efforts laid the foundation for the unification of Three Kingdoms of Korea, Queen Seondeok’s reign was plagued by rebellion and strife and she died in 647 during a rebellion, 23 years before unification was realized. - Address : Baeban-dong, Gyeongju-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do ※ Introduction Information - Inquiries and Guides • 1330 Travel Hotline: +...

Hwaseong Fossilized Dinosaur Egg Site (화성 공룡알 화석지)

Image
Hwaseong Fossilized Dinosaur Egg Site (화성 공룡알 화석지) - Homepage : dinopia.hscity.go.kr tour.hscity.go.kr - Tel : +82-31-5189-3508 The Hwaseong Fossilized Dinosaur Egg Site was discovered on an island in the tidal plain south of Sihwaho Lake. The island was revealed when seawaters were blocked during a land reclamation project. As the sedimentary layer formed during the Cretaceous period of the Mesozoic Era (dated around 83 million to 85 million years ago) was eroded by weathering, roughly 200 dinosaur eggs in thirty nests were discovered at twelve dig sites. It is anticipated that more fossils will be discovered once a thorough investigation is carried out and more land is reclaimed. Most dinosaur eggs are oval shaped and dark red. Considering the properties of the fossilized shells, the eggs that have been discovered so far are assumed to belong to four-legged herbivorous dinosaurs with a long neck and tail, and two-legged herbivorous dinosaurs, including the hadrosaur. A wide range ...
