Sootgolwon Naengmyeon is a Pyeongyang naengmyeon (Pyeongyang cold buckwheat noodles) specialty restaurant, maintained by descendants whose roots trace back to Pyeongyang for four generations. The restaurant stands out for its use of buckwheat from farms in Pyeongchang, Gangwon-do, which lends a unique buckwheat aroma to their dishes. They use a broth made from well-fermented dongchimi (radish water kimchi) with chicken, offering a light yet flavorful taste. The chicken is served as a topping. Their bibim naengmyeon (spicy buckwheat noodles) with sweet and sour sauce is exceptional, featuring chicken, crispy radish strips, and they also offer kkwong naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles in pheasant broth).
