The Daegu Citizen Stadium was established on April 20, 1948. It features a main stadium, a baseball stadium, a ssireum (Korean wrestling) stadium, tennis courts, and much more. Since its expansion in 1975, the Daegu Citizen Stadium hosted several soccer matches during the 1986 Asian Games and the 1988 Summer Olympics.

The area designated as a historic site in 1979, and excavation of the site took place from 1981 to 1988. The cultural heritage protection area was expanded to a total area of ​​78,133㎡.
